The Werewolf of London

It’s hairy! It’s scary! And it’s going to be FUN!

To celebrate English National Opera and Punchdrunk’s production of The Duchess of Malfi, we’re inviting you to MAKE A FILM SOUNDTRACK IN A DAY to the 1935 movie The Werewolf of London.

Come and join us on July 25 – we won’t bite!
You can get involved in one of 2 ways:

1)Register to come for the day, help us create the soundtrack and have a tour of the site with Punchdrunk!

2)Turn up for the screening at 5.30pm and join in the howling and screaming.

All abilities are welcome. There are 4 groups you can sign up for:

Werewolf music – we want acoustic string instruments for this group please.
Fighting music – mixed ensemble, any instrument will do!
Singers - we need voices of all types to create strange atmospheres...
Percussion – bring your own or use some of ours to create exotic and creepy music.

Invite your fiends to the screeming!

When?
Sunday 25th July.
Participants join English National Opera for a day of hair-raising workshops from 10am.
Performance 5.45-7pm.

Where?
The project takes place at Great Eastern Quay, Gallions Road, Royal Albert Docks, Albert Basin, London E16.

Who can take part?
Everybody, from complete beginners to professionals. The film is rated PG and in our view these activities are suitable for children aged 7+, young people and adults. Young people under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

How do we register?
The event is free but you must reserve your place in one of the groups or the audience. Booking opens the week of Monday 21st June, for full details visit our website at http://www.eno.org/explore/werewolf.php or call the box office on 0871 472 0800.

Grime star Kano promotes Government Diplomas in TV Advert - starring Newham Creative & Media Diploma students.
Grime rapper Kano (from East Ham) has produced a new track and video, which has been turned into a TV ad to promote Diplomas, a new course option available to study in YRs 10 & 11 and post 16. The Diploma combines classroom study and practical experience.
The track, 'More Than One Way', is available for free download and urges young people to think big and achieve their goals and reminds them that there’s more than one way of getting there.
The ad, which was bought by media agency Carat, runs for four weeks from 11 January and features behind the scenes footage from the shooting of the video. The video shows Kano walking through a crowd whose Diploma qualifications pop up in bubbles above them.

The video was made with the help of a select number of Diploma students from across the country, including three Newham Creative & Media Diploma students. Visit the Diplomas website to check out the video and see the students in action.
