What sort of things will I be learning if I pick a Sport and Leisure Diploma? The content of the diploma will focused on the skills and knowledge relevant to the sport and leisure industry. It will also including learning functional skills in English, maths and IT, and practical skills like problem solving and team work in the setting of sport and leisure. There is also optional modules which offers you the opportunity to study a particular topic in more depth or broaden your studies through complementary learning. A key feature of the diplomas is the work experience, there is a minimum of ten days to achieve. Along side your diploma you will also continue with the core curriculum of English, maths and science if you are in years 10 and 11. Do I have to be good at sport to study the Sport & Leisure Diploma? The diploma is not designed to produce world class athletes therefore you don’t need to be excellent at sport to take it, you just need an interest in the industry. The sport and leisure industry spans a huge range of job roles and many of these require you to enjoy an active and outdoors lifestyle.
